Minor League Scoreboard - Games of 7/15

Louisville 3 Scranton 1

Matt DeSalvo
, who is expected to be recalled to pitch for the Yankees in their doubleheader next Sunday, was throwing a 1-hit gem when he ran into trouble in the 8th. Former Yankee Mark Bellhorn tied the game up at 1-1 with his 11th HR of the season and the Bats scored another run to take the lead for good. A good line score for DeSalvo despite the loss - 7 IP 3 H 2 ER 2 BB 6 K. Hopefully he can throw with the same confidence against the Devil Rays.

New Hampshire 7 Trenton 5 (11)

The Thunder rallied from a 5-0 deficit with a 5 run 8th inning, only to lose the game in 11. Alan Horne had a rough outing, allowing 5 runs in 4 innings. A Gabe Lopez error lead to 3 of those runs being unearned. Carlos Mendoza drove in a pair of runs in the 8th inning rally.

Jupiter 9 Tampa 1

A bad day for starter George Kontos. He got racked for 6 runs in just 2.2 innings. He also struggled with his control, issuing 6 walks. Mike Martinez didn't fare any better in relief, allowing 3 runs to put the game completely out of reach. Shortstop Reegie Corona had 3 hits for the Yankees.

Charleston 2 Savannah 1 (Game 1)

Mike Dunn (11-3) allowed a run on 3 hits in 6 innings of work, and Eduardo Nunez and Kevin Smith each drove in a run. Jon Hovis closed out the 9th for his 20th save.

Charleston 6 Savannah 1 (Game 2)

Luke Trubee picked up the win in relief as the River Dogs scored 3 runs in the 5th to snap a 1-1 tie. Wilmer Pino and Eduardo Nunez delivered RBI singles and Seth Fortenberry walked with the bases loaded to force in a run.

Vermont 7 Staten Island 2

Highly touted prospect Dellin Betances was on the mound for the Baby Bombers, but he gave up 2 runs in 3 innings pitched and took the loss. Justin Snyder had 2 hits, a walk, and RBI.
Update (7/16 3:20 pm) - Betances left the game after 3 innings due to elbow stiffness. The S.I. training staff will monitor this situation closely to determine when Betances can return to the mound.

GCL Yankees had the day off.
