Minor League Scoreboard - Games of 7/13

Scranton 5 Louisville 2

The Yankees came up with 3 runs in the top of the 10th to pull out the win. Shelley Duncan capped off the inning with a 2-run double. Justin Christian had a 2-hit, 2-steal, 2-runs scored game. Steven White allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 7 innings and struck out 6. WP- Charlie Manning (2-1) S- Jim Brower (16th).


New Hampshire 6 Trenton 5

The Thunder blew a 5-0 lead in the 9th and lost it in the 10th. Things started out well as Phil Hughes (read the Star Ledger account of his performance) threw 3 shutout innings, and Juan Miranda drove in 4 runs, 3 of them with his 3rd home run. But after Jason Jones threw 5 scoreless innings of relief, Tim Lavigne got hammered in the 9th, and Michael Gardner lost it in the 10th. Shortstop Alberto Gonzalez had 4 hits.


Tampa 3 St. Lucie 2

Jose Tabata doubled home Austin Jackson with the winning run in the top of the 10th. Joshua Schmidt picked up his 4th win as many decisions and Eric Wordekemper pitched a 1-2-3 10th for his 23rd save. In the process Wordekemper lowered his ERA to a minuscule, 0.83. Kevin Whelan made his 2nd start and pitched very well, striking out 7 in 5 innings of work. He also allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run. Jackson's 2-4 performance improved his average to .420.


Columbus 3 Charleston 1

Grant Duff threw 5 scorelss innings before the Catfish tied up the game in the 6th. Brady Martinez and Garrett Patterson allowed single runs in the 7th and 8th as the River Dogs were held to 7 hits. Josue Calzado had 2 of the hits and drove in the only run.


Auburn 11 Staten Island 3

Adam Olbrychowski threw a quality start, allowing 3 hits in 6 innings. But Phil Bartleski and Jeff Livek and the Baby Bombers defense had a bad night as Auburn scored 8 runs over the final 3 innings. Justin Snyder hit his 2nd HR of the season and raised his average to .342 with a pair of hits.


GCL Blue Jays 12 GCL Yankees 3

Mainly lowlights in this one, except for
Gerson Manzanillo's 3 hit game and Robbie Minor's 2 hits and 2 RBI.
