Geese 6 Gators 2

No, a game didn't break out at Sea World. 6-2 was the final score of the Yankees intrasquad game, lead by Goose Gossage (Geese) and Ron Guidry (Gator). Thanks to PeteAbe, here are the pitching lines for the game. We know it's only the 1st game, it was 54 degrees and windy, but not a good start to the spring for the lefty combatants, Billy Traber and Sean Henn.

Minor League Scoreboard - Games of 7/13

Scranton 7 Louisville 4

Russ Ohlendorf made his 1st appearance at Scranton since April 7 and picked up the victory with 5 innings of work. Ohlendorf, who was out with a bad back, had made 2 rehab starts for the Gulf Coast League Yankees. He was semi-effective against Louisville, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Brett Gardner, who was recently promoted from Trenton, had 2 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs scored a stolen base, and an RBI.

Trenton 6 New Hampshire 2

One night after Phil Hughes' rehab start, the Thunder crows got to watch another exciting prospect in action. Joba Chamberlain didn't disappoint as threw 7 shutout innings, and struck out 9. The big Nebraskan allowed just 3 hits, and walked only 1 batter in upping his record to 4-1. Cody Ehlers and Bronson Sardinha each belted 3-run home runs to supply the offense. In the 3 games since his demotion from Scranton, Sardinha is 6-11, with 2 HRs and 7 RBI.

Tampa 8 St. Lucie 0

Phil Coke pitched his 1st complete game and shutout of the season, improving to 5-1 in the process. The left-hander, who scattered 8 hits, had plenty of run support as the Class 'A' Yankees banged out 12 hits. Edwar Gonzalez and Chris Malec had 3 hits apiece. Malec also drove in 2 runs.

Charleston-Savannah postponed.

Staten Island 4 Vermont 2

Ryan Pope, the Yankees 3rd round selection in this year's amateur draft, made a successful minor league, tossing 3 shutout innings.
