Minor League Recap - 6/9

Heavy rains in the Tri-state and surrounding area halted the Scranton Yankees-Syracuse Chiefs game in the 8th inning with the scored tied 2-2. It will be resumed at 6 pm this evening prior to the regularly scheduled game.

Alan Horne returned from a strained bicep to make the start for Scranton. Chad Jennings reports that Horne through 82 pitches, 44 of them for strikes, and worked in and out of trouble in his 4 inning stint.

No rain in Trenton, but there was plenty of 9th inning thunder against the Reading Phillies. The Phillies tied the game, 2-2, in the top of the 9th on a Jeremy Slayden home run off of Bo Hall. But in the bottom of the 9th, Reegie Corona doubled home pinch-runner Carlos Mendoza with the game winning run. Eric Hacker made his best start since his promotion to Double-A, allowing 1 run in 6.1 innings pitched, while striking out 7.
