Heavy rains in the Tri-state and surrounding area halted the
Scranton Yankees-Syracuse Chiefs game in the 8th inning with the scored tied 2-2. It will be resumed at 6 pm this evening prior to the regularly scheduled game.
Alan Horne returned from a strained bicep to make the start for Scranton.
Chad Jennings reports that Horne through 82 pitches, 44 of them for strikes, and worked in and out of trouble in his 4 inning stint.
No rain in
Trenton, but there was plenty of 9th inning thunder against the
Reading Phillies. The
Phillies tied the game, 2-2, in the top of the 9th on a
Jeremy Slayden home run off of
Bo Hall. But in the bottom of the 9th,
Reegie Corona doubled home pinch-runner
Carlos Mendoza with the game winning run.
Eric Hacker made his best start since his promotion to Double-A, allowing 1 run in 6.1 innings pitched, while striking out 7.

The
Tampa Yankees rallied from an 8-5 deficit to beat the
Palm Beach Cardinals 9-8 and complete a 3-game sweep. The
Yankees had a runner on 2nd Base with 2 outs when the bats came to life.
Mitch Hilligoss reached on an infield single and a Cardinals error allowed
Kevin Smith, who had 3 RBI in the game, to score to cut the lead to 8-6.
Andres Perez followed with a single, and he and
Hilligoss scored on
James Cooper's triple to right to tie the game.
Jose Gil then came through with the game winner on a lined single to right.
Josh Schmidt came on in the 9th to retire the Cardinals in order to preserve
Steve Arzt's first win.

The
Charleston RiverDogs lost the finale of their series with the
Savannah Sand Gnats, 6-4.
Austin Krum's 3rd home run helped rallied the
Dogs from a 5-1 deficit, but they fell short of a comeback.
