NFL Picks - Week 4

We never had a chance to go over the picks from last Sunday, but we were 10-6 last week.

Week 4 Picks

Big Blue has the week off, so we'll savor that 3-0 start for a bit.

Jets -1 vs. Cardinals
We have no faith in the Jets, but this is Arizona they're playing. Jets and Favre take this one, 20-17.

Broncos -9 at Chiefs
Chiefs are God awful and the Broncos offense is clicking on all cylinders. Broncs shouldn't blow them out.

Browns +1 at Bengals
Wow, tough one. The way things have gone for these 0-3 teams, they'll probably tie. Derek Anderson has to turn things around, doesn't he?

Jaguars -6.5 vs. Texans
Jags are beat up, but last week's win proved just how much talent this team has. Houston doesn't match up.

Saints -4.5 vs. 49ers
Saints defense has been nowhere to be found, but they should be able to do enough to beat the Niners.

Falcons +7 at Panthers
We love this Panthers team, but they haven't been that stupendous. Panthers win, but a close game.

Titans -3 vs. Vikings
The better team takes this one.

Packers +2 at Bucs
Interesting game and a tough pick. Bucs 'D' hasn't been as we would expect. The Bucs are not the Cowboys and that should mean a good enough day for Aaron Rodgers.

Bills -8.5 at Rams
When you're 8.5 point underdogs at home, you know you are in trouble.

Chargers -8 at Raiders
The same theory applies as above. Chargers should crush the Raiduhs.

Redskins +10 at Cowboys
Dallas is the superior team, but that's a big spread for such an intense rivalry.

Eagles -3 at Bears
Even without Westbrook, the Eagles should take it.

Steelers -5 vs. Ravens
Steelers should bounce back from last week's tough loss to Philly.

NFL Week 3 Picks

The thought of the Giants going 3-0 is mind boggling, but it better happen. Cincy is falling apart and though we hate, hate, hate that the Giants are double digit favorites, we have to take them.
Giants -13.5 vs. Bengals Giants 31 Bengals 13

Chargers -9 vs. Jets
The Monday night match up has an angry (thanks to Ed Hoculi) 0-2 Chargers team that should run roughshod over the Jets. LT2 is a no go for this one, but that shouldn't matter.

Falcons -5.5 vs. Chiefs
This could be an ugly game. The Falcons lured us into to taking them in week 2 and then let us down. There was no way the Chiefs were going to lose to the Raiders. Wrong again. Ok, someone has to win. We think it is the Matt Ryan led Falcons.

Bills -9.5 vs. Raiders
With Darren McFadden slowed by turf toe, the Bills should crush the hapless Raiders.

Titans -5 vs. Texans
We went back and forth on this one. The outcome is we think the Texans will suffer from not having played in 2 weeks.

Cardinals +3 at Redskins
We see this one coming down to a last second field goal.

Patriots -12.5 vs. Dolphins
We're not making that Miami mistake 2 weeks in a row.

Bucs +3 vs. Bears
Should be a close battle. We just can't get behind Kyle Orton. Or Brian Griese for that matter.

Panthers +3.5 at Vikings
Tavaris Jackson is out, Gus Ferrotte is in. More imporantly, Adrian Peterson is out. Panthers should go to 3-0, while the Vikes drop to 0-3.

Seahawks -9.5 vs. Rams
Flip a coin. We don't know where to go here. Seattle is a major disappointment and the Rams stink.

49ers -4 vs. Lions
We don't like either team, but the Lions suck more than usual on the road.

Saints +5.5 at Broncos
Should be a high scoring game as neither team's defense is too spectacular. Broncos win, but Saints keep it close.

Steelers +3.5 at Eagles
Steelers offense isn't as good as the Cowboys, but there is no way their 'D' will get burned like Dallas' did. Steelers should win out right.

Jaguars +5 at Colts
Injuries and all, the Jaguars should stay close or beat a Colts team that is going through a tough stretch.

Ravens -2 vs. Browns
Another to flip a coin on. This game is usually filled with field goals. Browns remain winless.

Cowboys -3 vs. Packers
Cowboys are the better team.

NFL Recap - Week 2

We didn't do so hot this past Sunday. A couple of teams really threw us for a loop and we mistakenly stayed on the bandwagon of others.

First and foremost, the Giants won again. It was closer than the final score indicated, but the final score of 41-13 over the Rams was quite pleasant. Giants -8.5 Win

Those crazy Jets fans. They saw Tom Brady go down and thought they had the AFC East wrapped up. Silly, silly, stupid J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets fans. Patriots 19-10 Win

Chiefs -3.5 at Raiders
Okay, this is one of the ones we didn't see coming. We know the Chiefs aren't good, but the
Raiders. Herm "just win a game" Edwards better win one in a hurry. Raiders 23-8 Loss

Titans +1 at Bengals
Vince Young or no Vince Young, there's no way the Titans should have only been favored by 1. Marvin Lewis must be praying to get fired. Titans 24-7 Win

Colts -1.5 at Vikings
To win in the NFL, you have to score touchdowns. The Vikings got five Ryan Longwell field goals and couldn't hold it. Colts 18 Vikings 15 Win

Saints PK at Redskins
We wondered how this game could possibly be a pick 'em with the Saints ability to score points. Then we saw the Saints defense and remembered. The 'aints absolutely blow a 24-15 lead. You can't lead Santana Moss beat you on a 67-yard like that. Redskins 26 Saints 24 Loss

Packers -3 at Lions
It continues. How do Matt Millen and Jon Kitna keep their jobs? A complete embarrassment. Forget Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers looked like Superman. Packers 48-25 Win

Panthers -3 vs. Bears
We are fully on the Panthers bandwagon, even if we only got a push out of this. So far two games, one right, one push. They've burned the hell out of us in the past. Perhaps they're trying to make up for it. Panthers 20-17 Push

Bills +5 at Jaguars
Oh yeah, we're on the Bills bandwagon too. The Jags aren't that bad, but they are beat up. There's no way they should have been that heavy a favorite. Bills 20-16 Win

Falcons +7 at Bucs
We totally screwed up on this one; got too influenced by Matt Ryan's performance last week. Bucs 24-9 Loss

Seahawks -7 vs. 49ers
We are REALLY sick of the Seahawks. Killed us in week one and did it again in week two. No more trusting Holmgren and Hasselback. You think we would have learned from last year. 49ers 33-30 (OT) Loss

Dolphins +6.5 at Cardinals
Okay, we should have been sent off to Bellevue for that pick. Dumb, dumb, dumb (but not as dumb as those Jets fans). Cardinals 31-10 Loss

Chargers PK at Broncos
Ed Hochuli is to blame for this. We're sure you've seen the blown 4th qtr call by now. We got screwed, but not as bad as the Chargers did. Broncos 39-38 Loss

Steelers -6 at Browns
Smashmouth football. Just boring football. Steelers 10 Browns 6 Loss

Eagles +7 at Cowboys
What a great game, clearly trying to make up for the Sunday nighter. Told you 7 points was too big of a spread. Cowboys 41-37 Win

The NFL Returns

We never thought we would be saying this, but the defending Super Bowl champion Giants (we just love how that sounds!) open the season at home tonight against the rival Washington Redskins. No Michael Strahan or Osi Umenyiora, but a more confident Eli Manning opens the season after winning the MVP award in last year's triumph.

Washington has a new coach in Jim Zorn and hopes to improve on last season's 9-7, non-playoff year.

The Giants are 4.5 points and we will lay the points. Giants 27 Redskins 20

Football Friday

It's the first day of February, which means Spring Training is less than 2 weeks away. But today, TODAY, is Football Friday. The Friday before the BIG GAME. If the Giants weren't playing in it, it would just be the Super Bowl LXII.

So we love our Giants. We don't really hate the Pats. Actually the Cowboys were the only team we hated in this run to the BIG GAME. But we don't like or respect Bill Bellichik as much as we used to. The non-shaking of hands, the scowl, the hoodie, and the spygate. Don't misinterpret though, he's still a great coach, and we still have some love for him from his days as the Giants defensive coordinator.

So now on to the BIG GAME. We've gone against our Giants in every playoff prediction and this one will be no different. The 18-0 Pats. That says it all. So here it is...

Patriots 31 Giants 17

We hate doing it, but its hard to imagine winning this game. Most of all, we hope for a much better outing than the Giants team that went up against the Ravens in SB XXXV.

All that being said...

Okay, we'll only be watching on TV, but the Giants did it!!! We didn't think it was possible and then a damn kicker nearly blew it, but they pulled it out!!!! GO GIANTS!!!

NFL Recap - Divisional Round

We didn't have quite the success we did last week as far as picking the game winners, but we did get 3 out 4 with the spread. We're not 6-2 vs. the spread in the post-season. We're also 6-2 merely picking the winner of the game.

Cowboys -7.5 vs. Giants Cowboys 31 Giants 20
Thankfully we were so wrong on this one. If winning the game is wrong, then we don't want to be right. GO GIANTS

Packers -8 vs. Seahawks:
We thought the Seahawks were phonies and despite a couple of quick scores, we were so right. We picked the Pack, 30-17. They laid it to he Hawks even more so, 42-20

Jaguars +13 at Patriots:
We thought the Jags could keep it close and thanks to some great play David Garrard, we were right. We said Patriots 31 Jaguars 21 - the final, 31-20. Not bad at all!

Chargers +8.5 vs. Colts:
We had the Chargers covering and we almost had the score exactly again. Only problem is we had the wrong team winning. We said, Colts 27 Chargers 23 - the final, Chargers 28 Colts 24.

Wild Card Weekend

The feeling about the Giants being a confident team after losing to the Pats is a bit absurd. While the offense played exceptionally well, the defense got torched, albeit by the league's best offense. But we don't know which Giants team will show up in Tampa this weekend, and that's why its difficult to have a positive feeling any time they play in the playoffs under Tom Coughlin.

We still think the Giants will win a tight one, 17-13. That also means take the 3 points.

Here's a look at the rest of the games.

Redskins -3.5 at Seahawks. We think this game is coming down to a field goal and the Redskins have an excellent chance to win the game. The Skins are on an adrenaline high right now and we don't trust the Seahawks. We don't particularly like a lot of the in-game decisions that Mike Holmgren makes either. All that being said, Seahawks 21 Redskins 20.

Jags -2.5 at Steelers. The Steelers are playing at home, which will help overcome the overrated status. But even though we never confuse Dave Garrard with Tom Brady, we think the Jags win this very physical game. Jaguars 27 Steelers 17.

Chargers -10 at Titans
We didn't think the Titans or Browns would stand a chance in this game, and we haven't changed our minds. Whether its Vince Young or Kerry Collins leading the Titans, they won't be able to match the offense output the Chargers put up. Phillip Rivers is struggling, but LaDanian Tomlinson is still the man. Chargers 34 Titans 20

This Week in the NFL - week 13

The Thursday night games are upon us. A great match up this week that most won't see due to the NFL Network.

Thursday

Packers +7 at Cowboys
We really aren't sure who is going to win this one, but we think it will be close. Would love to see the Favres win it though.

Sunday

Bears +1.5 vs. Giants
Big Blue travels to Chicago and we're concerned. Eli just looked like a boy among men and we've seen how the Giants have played in the 2nd half of the season under Coughlin. With the RB situation still up in the air this week, we're going to have to go with the home team.

Jets +1 at Dolphins
Boy this could be ugly. Jets have 2 wins, the fish have zip. No team wants to be the one to give the Dolphins their first win. Jets should survive.

Falcons over the Rams
No line on this game, as the QB sitch for both teams is in the air. Not like anyone cares.

Bills +5.5 at Redskins
As we said the other day, we are done with the Bills bandwagon, but they shouldn't be nearly a TD underdog to a crappy Redskins team. Especially one that is in mourning at the moment.

Vikings -3.5 vs. Lions
We're not fooled by this Vikings team win over the Giants. The Lions have lost 3 straight and generally suck on the road. The difference here is that the Vikings will be able to run the ball down the Lions' throats.

Texas +3.5 at Titans
Titans will win this one, but it should be a close one. Rob Bironas game winning FG, perhaps?

Jags +6.5 at Colts
The Colts are still reeling from injuries and the Jags are coming on strong. Could win this game outright.

Chargers +5.5 at Chiefs
The Chiefs couldn't even get it done against the Raiders.

Seahawks +3 at Eagles
Why exactly is Philly favored? Just because they played over their heads against the Pats?

Panthers -3 vs. 49ers
Flip a coin. The Panthers 'D' should be able to shut down Frank Gore and that will be the difference.

Browns +1 at Cardinals
The 49ers exploited the Cards 'D', so Derek Anderson definitely will.

Broncos -3.5 at Raiders
The Broncos are reeling after blowing a 14 point lead to the Bears, but this Raiders team is flat out bad.

Bucs +3 at Saints
Sticking our necks out here since the Bucs only scored 19 against the Skins. Which Saints team will show? We're counting on the Bucs defense to make it close.

Steelers -7 vs. Bengals
A bad loss to the Jets on the road. A rainy/muddy stinkfest win against the Dolphins. Surely the Steelers are ready to explode.

Patriots -20.5 at Ravens
We refused to give 24 points against the Eagles last week, but this Ravens team is well below the Eagles in talent and desire. A MNF disaster.

This Week in the NFL - Week 6

We've been watching Big Blue play this season, but its still hard to get into it with baseball going on. With temps only about 60, pouring rain, and the leaves suddenly falling off the tree (the Yankees lose, the sky is falling!!!), its time for football, hockey, and before you know it, basketball.

The Giants started with 2 horrendous games in a row, before winning their final 3. At the end of the Giants season, no one will be hoping Tom Coughlin stays in the manner that is being shown towards Joe Torre. Coughlin is an awful coach at making adjustments. But at the moment were ecstatic to be 3-2.

This week's match up with the Atlanta Falcons is intriguing. The Giants always played the Falcons better when Michael Vick played. They took embarrassing whippings at the hands of Doug Johnson and Kurt Kittner (that's not an owl you here, just a bunch of people going, "who?"). Giants are 3 point favorites and SHOULD emerge victorious. That being said, we all know how the Giants do on Monday Night Football and in the games they "should" win.

Here's our picks for this week's games. We are doing this for sport/entertainment. Do NOT take what we says as gospel or insider info. 'Cause we know nothin'.

Giants -3.5 at Falcons

Jets +3.5 vs. Eagles
Just a hunch that this game will be decided by a field goal. Brian Westbrook returned to practice this week and could be the difference maker if healthy.

Bengals -3 vs. Chiefs
With the Bengals arrest record they should be wearing totally orange uni's. Not looking good for Rudi Johnson and his bad hammy. Their lack of defense should still be enough against a scuffling Chiefs team. Plus we need to see that clip of Herm Edwards repeating "just win a game" over and over...you get the idea.

Texans +6.5 vs. Jaguars
A 3-2 team (Houston) versus a 3-1 team (Jax), and we don't have confidence in either one. But it's a pleasure to see Matt Schaub instead of David Carr at the Texans helm, and the team is good enough to win this game outright. Ahman Green should be back, but still no Andre Johnson. At the very least, the Texans will cover.

Browns -4.5 vs. Dolphins
The fish's season took a huge hit losing Trent Green, possibly forever. Derek Anderson should pass the Browns to a .500 record while the Dolphins make Darius Rucker cry.

Vikings -5.5 at. Bears
Remember when this was a good game? Wasn't that long ago. This is a QB rating nightmare showdown of Kelly Holcomb/Tarvaris Jackson and Brian Griese/Rex Grossman. Bears will win, but by a FG.

Rams -9.5 at. Ravens
We know the Ravens can play defense, but what's with the offensive ineptitude. I feel for anyone who watched last week's Ravens-Niners snorefest. And the Rams, where have ye gone Marc Bulger. You lost your job to Gus Frerotte. Gus "smash my head into the wall" Frerotte. No Stephen Jackson, but Rutgers grad Brian Leonard had his 1st 100 yard rushing day last Sunday.

Titans -3 at Buccaneers
The 2nd best game of the week. Vince Young against a Tampa team that's playing well (maybe too well). Young's got a horrendous 67.2 passer rating, and has more picks than TDs. But he, LenDale White, and Chris Brown can eat up yards on the ground. Jeff Garcia is having a super year. He hasn't thrown a pick yet. Problem for Tampa is, who is going to carry the ball? Both Cadillac Williams and Michael Pittman are out. Ernie Graham is the man.

Packers -3 vs. Redskins
So hate the Redskins, but can't let that color our pick. The Pack is Back. For now. It's hard to have confidence in this team in the long haul, though there were plenty of doubters about the Bears chances to reach a super bowl last year. Should be close throughout but the Lambeau faithful will be rewarded.

Cardinals -4.5 vs. Panthers
All Kurt Warner all the time. Matt Leinart is out for the season, but at least he can spend some time with his kid (insert sarcastic sneer here). Jake Delhomme is done for the Panthers and John Fox could be by the end of the year. David Carr starts for the Panthers. 'nuff said.

Patriots +5.5 at Cowboys
The game of the week. Oh how the Cowboys are going to be exposed. This time the mistakes will not lead to a win like that joke of a game Monday night. The Giants rang up 35 points against the 'Boys. Just imagine what Brady and Bellispy will do.

Raiders -9.5 at Chargers
Clearly the odds makers put too much into the Chargers rout of the Broncs on Sunday. Did you not see their games before that? The Raiders smell like Al Davis' underwear, but 9.5 is way too much.

Saints -6.5 at Seahawks
The Saints just have to turn it around. Don't they? There's too much talent on this team (and no coaching change) to keep playing like crap. The Seahawks are coming off their clunker against the Steelers and should prevail. But on a Sunday night, who knows. Saints will cover though.
Hmmm...okay, this is at the very least, the real 2nd best game of the week.
