Breaking News: Joe Kennedy Died of Heart Disease

The death of Joe Kennedy, who passed away at his in-law's home the day after Thanksgiving, has been attributed to hypertensive heart disease, according to the Hillsborough County (Fla.) medical examiner's department. The autopsy showed degeneration of Kennedy's heart's mitral valve, leading to a "natural" cause of death.

The 28-year old southpaw was rushed to a Tampa area hospital and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Joe Kennedy, Dead at 28

Yesterday was a day of celebration and families gathering together. Today, the family of the Blue Jays pitcher Joe Kennedy is searching for answers. Early this morning, the 28-year old left-hander died while staying at the home of his in-laws. Having gone to bed early, Kennedy got up about 1:15 a.m. and collapsed as he left his bedroom. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to a Blue Jays spokesperson, Kennedy was in Bradenton, Florida to be the best man at a friend's wedding.
