Laugh-Rod

One of YES' new shows this season is YESterdays which focuses on player's back stories (to steal a phrase from LOST). Alex Rodriguez is profiled on this week's episode, so YES sent out transcripts to the media. Peter Abraham posted the following excerpt in which Cynthia Rodriguez describes her husband's less than stellar performance at delivery time of their 2nd child. It's a very funny read.

“As tough and big as he seems, he is real wimpy around doctors or any type of medical situation. I don’t know why I thought the birth of our child would be different. In the middle of the night, I realized that I needed to go to the hospital. I wake him up. The first thing that comes out of his mouth, ‘Can we call your mother?’ And I started, ‘No. Let’s wait and make sure that I am in labor, and make sure that, you know, it’s the middle of the night.’ And go to the hospital and everything. And finally, a few hours later, I said, ‘I think you can call my mom now.’

“Uh, and the color came back to his face when I told him he could call my mom. And then forget it. I was like not even having a baby; he was the one. The one nurse had a cold cloth on his head. The other nurse had the blood pressure on his arm. And my mother was like rubbing his back. And he is passed out on a couch. And I am there, in the middle of labor. And really, I am not being paid much attention to besides the doctor and a couple of nurses. And he is there moaning. In between pushing, I am going, ‘Honey, are you OK?’ And are you breathing? Are you OK?’ “

The A-Rod's Paint the Town Green

Alex and Cynthia Rodriguez will host tonight's A-Rod Family Foundation gala in Coral Gables, Florida. C-Rod sat down for an interview with the area's Channel 4:
"Miami was where I was born and raised and Alex was raised in Miami. Our family is here so that's important to us, especially with children now to give us structure. So we will always come back down for Winter- buy New York is our home for 8 months a year," she said.

When I asked her if it was tough being in the spotlight all the time she said, "I think it poses challenges, but I think it forces you to reevaluate your value system. What matters and what's most important. At the end of the day he's just Natasha's dad and he's my husband. He's a family man."

The foundation helps children in need through events like tonight's fashion show and dinner.

Perhaps they can auction off some of those designer t-shirts C-Rod wore this summer.

A-Rod Has a Family to Feed

That next contract is going to be important because Mrs. A-Rod is expecting their 2nd child this spring. Must have been good make up sex after the stripper and f-you t-shirt incidents.

Rocket Fires Up #350

The Yankees now even lose when they win. In the process of Roger Clemens picking up his 350th career victory, in a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins, Alex Rodriguez had to leave the game with a strained hamstring.

With two men aboard in the 6th, A-Rod hit a double play grounder to third. In lunging to beat the throw from 2nd Baseman Luis Castillo to 1st, A-Rod hooked feet with Twins 1st Baseman Justin Morneau, sending both to the ground. Although he popped up immediately, it was obvious that A-Rod's hamstring was hurting. A-Rod tried to stay in the game, but after moving to 2nd on a base hit, told 3rd Base coach Larry Bowa that he didn't think he could score on a hit. That was enough for Bowa to signal for assistant trainer Steve Donahue and A-Rod's night was over. He'll be re-evaluated today and will most likely be out of action for at least a couple of days.

Clemens meanwhile looked like the vintage Rocket, dominating the Twins lineup. Clemens' fastball reached 93 mph as he limited the Twins to just 2 hits over 8 innings. He didn't allow a base runner after Joe Mauer's double to lead off the 4th, retiring the last 15 men he faced. Having thrown just 97 pitches, he could have gone out for the 9th, but Joe Torre wanted to give Mariano Rivera some work. Clemens became the 8th pitcher in major league history, the first since Warren Spahn in 1963 to reach 350 career wins.

As for the offense, Bobby Abreu snapped out of his slump, at least for one night with 3 hits. The biggest ignited a 4-run 6th inning when he blasted a shot about a third of the way up the upper deck in right. The Yankees then loaded the bases against Boof Bonser. Reliever Juan Rincon walked Melky Cabrera to force in a run. Derek Jeter's seeing eye grounder off Matt Guerrier eluded 3rd Baseman Jeff Cirillo and resulted in a 2-run single and a 5-1 lead.

Brian Cashman confirmed after the game that he spoke to both A-Rod and his wife Cynthia about her tastes in t-shirts. He would not go into specifics.

Mrs. A-Rod says F-You

A-Rod's wife Cynthia decided to take on the media with an explicit message on the back of her t-shirt.

From NY Post writers Dan Mangan and David K. Li

July 2, 2007 -- Oh, no, she didn't!

Yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez's long-suffering wife, Cynthia, may have finally flipped her pretty lid yesterday when she went to a game in The Bronx wearing a tight-fitting, white tank top bearing a foul message on the back: "F- - - you."

The obscene phrase was plainly visible to thousands of fans - including plenty of kids - as she, her 2-year-old daughter, Natasha, and an older woman took their seats in the players' family section of the House that Ruth Built.

"[One] father, was so embarrassed, he got up and left and took his son," who appeared to be about 10 years old, a fan said.

"I mean this kid was right in back of Cynthia - his nose must have been about 4 inches away from the words 'F- - - you.' "

Cynthia's F-word faux pas also may have violated Yankee Stadium policy.

The team's policy prohibits any banners or signs that are not in "good taste" and also warns that security guards will eject any guests "using foul language" or "making obscene gestures."

Still, when some fans let nearby security know about Cynthia's four-letter garment yesterday, nothing was done.

"It was noted by police and security," one fan said. "They were aware of it. I guess they didn't know what to do. I guess you don't kick A-Rod's wife out of the game."

It's not clear who the target was of Cynthia's F-bomb: Yankee fans, management, the media - or even perhaps her wandering husband.

But if Cynthia, 34, was trying to light a fire under A-Rod's struggling team with her shocking message, it didn't work - the bumbling Bronx Bombers got thumped 11-5 by the Oakland A's.

The loss left them four games under .500 and 11 games behind the arch rival Boston Red Sox, who are solidly in first place in the American League East.

Cynthia's shocking breach of stadium etiquette comes a month after she was publicly humiliated by her straying hubby's catting around the country and Canada with a busty, blond Las Vegas stripper and Playboy wannabe named Joslyn Noel Morse - revealed in a Post exposé.

Despite - or perhaps because of - those randy revelations, Alex Rodriguez, 31, has been on fire when it comes to the baseball diamond, batting a jaw-dropping, Major League-leading .406 over the last month.

Howard Rubenstein, the spokesman for Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, last night said he could not reach The Boss or other Bombers executives for comment on Cynthia's sartorial stunt.

A-Rod's agent, Scott Boras, could not be reached.
