That's a Wrap
The winter meetings wrapped up in Nashville earlier today, and as is usually the case, when there's a big build up to something, there wasn't much excitement from the gathering. Here's what did happen.
The Tigers and Marlins pulled off the blockbuster deal sending Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis north for 6 prospects.
The Yankees and especially the Red Sox had extensive talks with the Twins about Johan Santana. The Twins came away thinking they couldn't get enough back from either at team- at least for now.
The Baseball Writers Association of America put in a no-clause clause.
The Rule V draft took place.
Andruw Jones got himself a brand new 2 year deal.
Tony LaRussa went postal on Scott Rolen.
And that's about it. Some minor deals. Lots of rumors. Plenty of schmoozing. Next year's meetings are in Las Vegas. Lock up your daughters.
