Mr. 2000
Last night's victory was #2,000 for Joe Torre. He became the 10th manager in major league history to reach that feat. He also becomes the first manager to reach a very unique milestone. He is the one and only to have 2,000 wins and 2,000 hits as a player.
Mariano Rivera presented the game ball to a teary eyed Joe Torre (Suzyn Waldman was probably crying in the radio booth too), and Derek Jeter greeted his only big league manager with a hug.
