Minor League Weekend Recap - 6/15
Scranton
Friday: The Yankees salvaged a split of the four game series with the Richmond Braves with a 9-3 win. Alan Horne went 6.1 innings in his second start since returning from the DL to improve to 2-0. Cody Ransom lead a 15-hit attack with a 4-5 night that included a 2-run home run. Nick Green and Justin Christian added 2 RBI each.
Saturday: Dan McCutchen had his best start at the Triple-A level, throwing a complete game shutout in the Yankees 9-0 win over the Norfolk Tides. McCutchen earned his first win for Scranton by scattering 6 hits, while striking out 4 and not issuing a free pass. Matt Carson homered twice and drove in 4 runs, and Cody Ransom homered for the second straight game.
Sunday: Another good starting performance helped the Yankees to a 4-2 win over the Tides. Jeff Marquez tossed 7 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits. Dave Robertson picked up the save with 1.1 innings pitched. Ransom homered for the third straight game, giving him 11 for the season.
Trenton
Friday: The Thunder dropped the series opener to the Reading Phillies 4-2. Phil Coke allowed just 1 earned run over 6 innings, but the Thunder couldn't get much going offensively. Austin Jackson did hit a solo home run and Ramiro Pena had 3 hits.
Saturday: The Thunder rolled over the Phillies for an 11-1 win behind 3 RBI each from Cody Ehlers and Colin Curtis. Ehlers, Austin Jackson, and Chris Malec each homered. Eric Hacker allowed 1 run over 6 innings for his firs win at the Double-A level.
Sunday: The Thunder dropped the rubber game of the series 11-3 on Father's Day. A pair of errors lead to 6 unearned runs and loss for George Kontos. Jackson homered for the third straight game, doubling his total coming into the series, and Edwar Gonzalez hit his 3rd of the year for Trenton and his 9th overall.
Tampa
The Florida St. League enjoyed a 3 day break.
Charleston
Friday: The RiverDogs were unable to hold a 3-1 lead, dropping a 5-3 game to the Savannah Sand Gnats. Noel Castillo was pitching well until he was charged with 4 additional runs in the 6th inning. Brandon Laird lead the offense with a pair of doubles.
Sunday: A 10th inning rally fell short as the Sand Gnats held on for a 7-6 win in 10 innings. Laird and Brad Suttle homered for the RiverDogs.
Sunday: The RiverDogs salvaged the finale of the 3-game series with an 8-2 win. Jesus Montero was 4-5 with a pair of RBI and Austin Romine added 3 hits and 2 RBI of his own. Adam Olbrychowski improved to 5-2 with the win.
