The KC Boo Birds

We've come to expect hearing Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez booed everywhere the Yankees play, but we haven't been able to figure out why the Kansas City Royals fans have been lambasting Johnny Damon.

Damon, the one time Royal, hasn't played in KC for 8 years and left via a trade, not free agency. Other former Royals, such as Jermaine Dye, have been welcomed upon their return, so what gives?

The Kansas City Star's Sam Mellinger has been wondering the same thing. He really had no answer, so he asked his blog readers to enlighten him.

The answers have mainly something to the effect of, "he was a douchebag", and fans were upset how he cavalierly cheated on his wife while he was a member of the Royals. And apparently, as he said in Boston, Damon at one time said he wanted to be a lifetime Royal. How long until "lifetime Yankee" is uttered?
