The Week Ahead
Big week for the Yankees, who are now 1/2 game back in the wild card. They've got a 3 game series with division rival Toronto, and then go to Cleveland for a 3 game weekend series. Everything kicks off today with a day game, which has not been a good sign for the Yankees of late. Last week's 8-0 comeback only to lose is a case in point.
Here are the pitching probables for the Blue Jays series:
Monday - Andy Pettitte (7-7) vs. Jesse Litsch (4-4)
Tuesday - Roger Clemens (3-5, 4.23) vs. Josh Towers (5-8, 5.17)
Towers is the latest Blue Jays to have a run-in with manager John Gibbons
Wednesday - Chien-Ming Wang (13-5, 3.49) vs. Roy Halladay (12-5, 4.13)
Now THAT's a pitcher's duel!
Comings and goings - well mainly goings - Sean Henn was sent to Scranton on Saturday to make room for Phil Hughes, and as we mentioned the other day, Colter Bean was designated for assignment to make room for Hughes on the 40 man roster. Scott Williamson, who was recently signed to a Scranton contract, was released.
Congratulations are in order for the Mets' Tom Glavine, who picked up his 300th career win, over the Chicago Cubs. The Mets pen nearly blew the lead before the offense broke the game back open.
